Batman Begins
Ive never watched a batman film since seeing the 1989 one as a kid, at least ten years ago now, and watched this because I’ve started getting into the DC comics. It also happened to be the first Nolan movie that I have watched.
I thought this was a very solid film, scarecrow was terrifying, I loved this version of Alfred, and Gotham was beautiful at nighttime, although it didn’t really feel like Gotham in the daytime.
The action was well choreographed and the cinematography was gorgeous, overall a very solid Batman movie, and the ending set up the dark night pretty well…
There were a few negatives, the start was a bit slow and I couldn’t make myself care about Rachel, but otherwise it was solid, with a few “oh shit” moments when the pieces started clicking together. It’s got me prepped to start reading Batman comics, and I do want to watch the dark night now… so it definitely succeeded at its job.
