Wow, what a emotional film.

Visceral. Tense. Impactful. Just three words that initially summarize the movie for me. Just saw it on Netflix (and I have to write another thing about that, the democratization of the art house movies) and I can’t explain how Cuaron made this exceptional work of art.
Depicting the low life of a Mexican maid, in the middle of a rich family in the 70’s (the most turbulent time on Mexico), the director manages to (slowly) show the audience what twists and turns and which highly emotional situations can overcome a mild and humble lady on those wild and crazy times. Cuaron uses a slow moving camera and a number of one take shots to show the ruff quietness that comes from the life of the protagonists and when the things start to crumble, we see a fenomenal change of direction that affects your feelings.
This definitely is on my top 5 of the year.
Oh, and the cinematography is MAGNIFICENT.
