I kinda expected to like this but it really hit the spot in a way that I didn’t expect. The movies core themes of sentimental attachment we have to possession but through the perspective of the possession really worked on me. I loved Jessie as a main character as she wrestles with the thought of moving on from being a toy and what her purpose is beyond that. The main theme of technology stripping away the core part of play by taking away an imagination involved was very poignant although I wish they fully committed to the iPad being a main villain. The thing that really got me in my feels though was Jessie reminiscing of her first kid. All of those scenes were heartbreaking to watch. On the main level seeing her having to work through the emotions of being left behind but also the subtext of the pain that comes from growing up. The whole film does an excellent job of showing how kids these days feel like they have to act all mature and grown up instead of enjoying these years where they can do anything. The reveal the Jessie did have an impact on the life of her first kid, Emily when it is revealed that Emily named her daughter Jessie really stuck with me. We hold onto so many little things throughout life that impact us in ways we never knew. This movie reminded me of how much I miss being a kid, I remember being in my room playing with my X-men toys and my legos and spending hours in imagination land. It sucks that that time is gone but the movie and even more so the whole series shows how although growing up is hard we now have the chance to make sure the next generation has a great childhood like we had. By not using technology and just using our brains. Really great movie

Def coulda gone deeper but still good
