this is my first time viewing a silent film. it’s a very profound experience, it requires more attention and focus, more on the spot interpretation than i would have expected. the lack of stimuli kept my mind more occupied than the loud, attention grabbing slop hollywood mass produces.

a regretful 2 hours full of exactly what i expected. very sophomoric writing even beyond the obvious political pitfalls. a better writer could’ve done something with that closeted trans character, or the queer-coded towel boy. it’s like if the people who wrote high school musical did ‘we are the titans’ from memory. there’s a very clear disconnect from reality, beyond what you could argue is exaggeration for comedic effect. society has never been half as accepting of trans people as this movie tries to imply it is. the misogyny that permeates lady ballers is never even resolved. there is no character growth, even the women in the movie are depicted as being accepting and supportive of the patriarchy. this is more thought than the movie deserves, in exchange i’m not going to write further and i’m not going to proof read.

an amazing direct critique of fascism, especially of the buf. beautifully directed.
