Unlucky Monkey
It didn't really hit base with me as other initial few of his films did. I think what happened was after his first 2 films Dangan Runner and Postman Blues which were full of high energy, kinetic, black comedies that revolved around a lot of coincidences and consequencesof that, SABU tried experimenting to develop his style by delving deeper into the main characters personality. He did add loneliness in postman blues character but that lasted for first 15 mins of the film. He added the element of guilt here. One more thing he tried experimenting with was trying to add a message like the small arc of the citizens meeting where they protested to industrialists against environmental pollution kind of something like Parasite director Bong Joon Ho usually does. I would consider this as an experimental film of his that shaped his next 3 films like he did an amazing portrayal of alcoholism in Monday along with the message of gun control and similarly in Blessing Bell and Drive.
