Candyman

Candyman is horror at its near peak. It uses the genre to expose larger and more significant themes- racial violence, inherited trauma, indifference to suffering, etc. Not only is the film eerie and discomforting, but it’s also artistically/cinematically genius. The graffiti, the architecture of the Cabrini-Green residency, the soundtrack/score… Gahdamn. Tony Todd’s performance and voice is unforgettable as well.
