Yi Yi
I'm not entirely sure what compelled me to watch Yi Yi, a movie I assumed I would never watch in my lifetime as i found "A Brighter Summer Day" to be a pretty looking but mostly boring experience (sorry)
Perhaps as I'm properly reaching adulthood I have become more appreciative of the small quiet moments in life, and Yi Yi is a collection of snapshots of life, from every perspective it can find, adults revisiting old regrets & children making future regrets, a celebration of life & love followed by a mourning of the deceased, a movie about everything & nothing, life is not a narrative of escalating drama but a soft, quiet, & often times slow series of small scenes forming the cinematic narrative of our lives
