La La Land
I watched this movie… for research.
(Also i’m not good at reviewing, but fuck it.)
I approached this movie with the mindset that it was going to be a decent movie that was probably overhyped but it surprising exceeded my expectations, and by a lot. Before I even talk about the story itself, I found myself really enjoying the overall atmosphere of the movie and they did an absolutely amazing job with the score as well (the music was fucking beautiful). Now I was expecting for this to be the cliche kind of love story where the two who were on bad terms at the beginning end up happily together, but instead it dealt with the sacrifices one has to make when pursuing their dreams (having to give up the person they love) which is something that I will for sure keep in my mind as I continue to grow as a person. The ending of the movie left me feeling a little off at first because it wasn’t what I was expecting, but I feel like it definitely the necessary ending since it demonstrated how even though they had to let go of each other, they were still contempt with one another because they achieved what they always wanted and they wanted that for each other.
Overall, beautiful movie.
And shoutout to the homie Ben for putting me on 🗣️🙏🏽‼️
