Before Midnight
I really like how the filmmaker made the transition of the film's flow from the first, second, and third scenes. The first, full of curiosity, innocence, ‘meet-cute’— the second, a sad reunion, but also a new beginning—the third, when the cracks begin to form, but there are flowers blooming in those cracks.
In the third film, the focus is not only on the two of them, but on the complications of their lives, how they have to try to maintain their relationship. They were busy with all their works, their children and their complicated stuffs. In the movie, when they were walking to the hotel, they discussed the moment on the train again, what if they met at that age, whether Celine would be considered attractive, whether Jesse would accept their offer to get off the train, and many sweet things, that really got me, then I started to feel uncomfortable after they had the scene in the hotel, because everything started to get complicated, everything was fkdup, and I felt like a child who was listening to thier parents arguing, while they were in the hotel I felt that way, and I really felt all the emotions
And it's true, not all adults are mature, in fact they will have even bigger egos, and life at that time is no longer about sweet silly relationships, but thinking about how to survive as a couple, and how to try to understand each other, which even though it has been forced continuously, but if you are still equally selfish, nothing will work.
Honestly, I often hear complicated adult conversations, or just arguments caused by problems that shouldn't be a problem, so i relate to this movie, and when I hear it in this movie, I feel very deep emotions, I really understand it, I understand how it continues, how things come up after, and I know very well, that this movie is very honest, beautiful, and meaningful.
The only thing I really regret is that the visuals of this film are not as special as the previous film, where the visuals were clean, modern, monotonous palette, 2010s, losing its dreamy aesthetic, but it's not a big deal, I still enjoyed the film, even though I wasn't satisfied with the visuals.
