Superman
Its taken me a minute to fully figure out why, out all the superhero movies ive watched, this one hit me so differently. I have watched cbms my whole life and there is a particular feeling to this movie that ive only ever felt when i was kid and watched the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. i believe that at their very core, they understand what the purpose of these movies are, and in general, the purpose of superheroes in today's world. Since 2002 and the original spider-man came out, we have since then been buried in hundreds of superhero movies, cameos, crossovers and something has been lost to what these characters can inspire in us. There is nothing wrong with this, i enjoy Avengers Endgame as much as the next person and can appreciate the stories they try to tell, but its so refreshing to see a movie go back to what fundamentally these characters are meant to do, inspire us, they push us to hold on just a second longer despite how grim and dark the world may seem. They make us believe that we can look up to the sky and see a man fly. I know this movie and... well, even this review, seems corny in a sense, but in a cold and careless world, that seems to be doing worse every single day, that pushes you down relentlessly, what bigger act of defiance is there, than caring? Than waking up and doing your best every day? What is more punk rock than being happy regardless of it all?
