Arrival
man this film is incredible, the type of film where you don't want to miss even a second of it. i have always loved alien story's, ever since i was very young. but, one of my first encounters with alien films was 'Mars Needs Moms'. i have only ever seen this film once, about the age of 7 years old, yet i believe i remember every detail from a first hand experience. i remember going to bed that same night, in the dream i had an argument with my mum, ran upstairs, said i 'never want to see her again' (or whatever was in the film) and then she was taken. it was so brutal and scared the hell out of me. i swear i remember her being strapped to a chair & she has to die, surely that part isn't in the film, but i'll make sure to watch it soon. i think all of my generation has a slightly obsessed mindset to the idea of aliens, living through the 'area-51' stuff where everybody i knew used to extensively watch & talk about 'the aliens in area-51'. personally, i don't believe aliens are there simply because Donald Trump is in office & he surely would've said it by now in a demented rant. aliens are for sure out there, just like vampires (from my previous rant).
the cinematography of the film is truly incredible, Villeneuve is one of the greatest of our time. & man my heart was beating like hell at the start of the film. i felt like the aliens were SLIGHTLY lazy, they were literally just huge octopuses, but it was still cool. i'm always going to prefer the alien concept of the bald headed grey bloke around the same size, if not taller, but i understand film-makers are probably tired of that concept.
'Arrival' blew my mind. i don't care if 5.0 feels or seems like too much. it made me cry. it made me shocked. it gave me goosebumps. it made me inspired. that's a 5.0. truly one of the greatest films i have ever seen.
