Paths of Glory
100/100
A film that’s somehow both deeply human and inhuman in concert, with an ending that chips away at what might’ve been a more wholly cynical project. Despite the glimmer of amity found in “The Faithful Hussar,” Kubrick’s Paths of Glory is a testament to the fact that no man has ever truly given his life for his country. Instead, it’s always his country that forcibly takes it from him.
