Gladiator
I watched it as a teenager before and tought "oh wow, cool fights", now besides the amazing fight sequences, I appreciate the great story of Maximus, the general who became a slave and then became a Gladiator who defied the emperor.
Where to begin? The costumes, props, vfx, scenarios, are just amazing to watch. The fight sequences, led by Maximous, have you at the edge of your seat, and rooting for the general.
The characters? Sensational, Maximus is a broken man, moved by his objective of vengeance, Commodus is an amazing villain and their clashes are great to see. For me, the best is how Maximus, with minimum effort and just by being who he is, keeps overshadowing Commodus; doing in front of the coliseum by disrespecting him and showing off who the men there were really loyal to was just OOF.
The final battle left me a bit underwhelmed, but I see it as just another display of fortitude by Maximus and how pathetic Commodus really is.
Overall one of my favorites, and now for so many more reasons.
