Sinners

Im so glad i waited to see this in theaters, truly a great experience. Sinners is a modern horror masterpiece that combines racial elements in early 20th century with paternal absence. The religious symbolism in sinners is also overt. Systemic racism is constantly brought up with chicago being brought into conversation stack says “at least we understand the enemy here” showing how subtle and prevalent racism is across the entirety of the US. There wasnt a boring moment in sinners and every frame is crafted to perfection. I thought some of the performances were underwhelming but michael b jordan is truly amazing. Smoke and stack are such well written characters and each brother’s story plays out as it is foreshadowed in the beginning. The score is also so good with the music throughout the film overtaking any scene it is in.
