Fallen Angels
this movie feels like getting drunk at 3am in a neon-lit alley while a stranger tells you their life story and you’re not sure if they’re hitting on you or trying to rob you
everyone here is lonely but hot about it
the hitman is like “i’m gonna quit” for the entire runtime but keeps killing people anyway like me saying i’ll go to bed early and then scrolling for 4 more hours
michelle reis is basically chain-smoking melancholy in lipstick form and every time she’s on screen i feel like i’m inhaling cigarette smoke through the tv
the part with the video store… why did it feel more romantic than half the romcoms i’ve ever seen
takeshi kaneshiro breaking into businesses at night to “work” is the weirdest flex and somehow adorable
this movie is greasy, sweaty, lonely, neon-soaked poetry
every shot looks like it was filmed through a dirty fishbowl and i mean that as a compliment
also shoutout to the random ice cream moment, cinema peaked there
wong kar-wai really said “what if yearning, but sideways and slightly drunk”
