The Florida Project
this is a movie about little kids being absolute menaces and somehow making you cry like you just got personally evicted from your childhood
moonee and her crew are out here throwing dead fish in the pool, screaming at tourists, scamming strangers for ice cream, and i’m just watching like: yes queen live your feral pastel dream
these children are unsupervised, sunburnt, sticky from syrup and pure chaos incarnate and yet it’s the most honest depiction of childhood i’ve ever seen
and halley?? that girl is spiraling at full speed with a smile on her face and a middle finger raised. messy, reckless, tragic, and weirdly magnetic
also willem dafoe as motel dad?? not all heroes wear capes, some just fix broken vending machines and keep kids from being set on fire
but THEN that ending said: haha anyway prepare to feel your heart snap in half like a cheap motel bedframe
i did not sign up for emotional war crimes from a film that looks like a lisa frank postcard
