Sinners

This movie is so beautiful and real. I almost forgot what a real movie in 2025 was. Full of symbolism, well developed characters and motivations, it’s something special. The reason it’s not a five star is probably just the fact that I can knit pick plot points that I thought didn’t make much sense, or the underutilisation of the Native American hunters which I thought would’ve been cool if they showed up at the end with Smoke.  I think I just have too many questions around the vampire lore. And Remmick’s accent fucked me up. I know he was playing the southern accent up and people were saying he drops it after a while but the accent is still so strong to me I don’t really hear much Irish in there unless he’s singing. I wonder if this was purposeful, but it drew me out of the film because I felt like it was never answered for me. Regardless, this is such a small thing that doesn’t reduce much more from the 4.5/5.  Ryan Coogler is amazing. He can balance so many nuances into a single film.
