I think I loved this film simply because I loved the book, the independence and ferocity that is elizabeth bennet, the confusing guarded mr darcy and all of the yearning in between. It just slightly disappointed me as I waited for certain bits of plot that were skipped over and i think that kiera knightly just embodied more of herself than she did elizabeth bennet and seeing as she is so central to everything just put everything askew. Maybe my expectations were to high however I think apart from the setting and most acting some plotholes and character representation let such a classic piece of literature down.

This is by far the weirdest film I have and probably ever will watch but that is what made it so captivating just enjoyable to watch, by the time the happy ending rolls around you almost forget the strange beginning. However it becomes truly interesting when you let it resonate with you after, this donkey skin, the skin of the animal that worked and produces all of their wealth made her so disgusting but when she wears the product of the work she instantly becomes desirable. I think it may have been shown like this to criticise the rich and sympathise with the working class but the best thing is I can think of ten other things like that to say about it, love, beauty standards, everything. Never expected to like it this much and still be humming the tune to that silly little song.

I really enjoyed this film despite knowing nothing beforehand. I just love the way Sofia story tells, really from the characters perspective, so much so that we get to understand how she remained in a relationship so abusive and teaches us how to recognise the vicious cycle and how quickly it can spiral. I also really enjoyed how the film was made about her and not just another Elvis documentary that didn’t hold him accountable for his actions, the piece almost works like a tragedy the way things progressively get worse but then ends with such strength that you cant help but admire her. I also think it is really interesting how it ends as she moves on because it reflects how once she loses her famous husband she disappears but in turn she discovers herself which is just beautiful as she seems so lost throughout the film. Her biggest decision became her greatest strength, the power of leaving cannot be underestimated.
