Don’t be surprised man this is Matt Johnson we’re talking about! Great colour and lighting with a good amount of interesting angles. Lovely score from Jay aswell although only a bit too much usage of music throughout. Really enjoyed the silent scenes (ketchup). A delicate sense of danger when the trio gathers at the beach. Symbols, suspense, humour and i got teary-eyed at an almost cheesy name drop, fantastic. Great choice to have the story be contained in this one town yet feel so large for the development of this young man who wants to write a bildungsroman… Scratches a similar itch as Cha Cha. Would love to rewatch. MOTY candidate for me.
