Gummo

Can be overly obscene at times, yet it still manages to be relatable, funny, and strikingly self-aware in exposing the messed-up things that still happen today. Although it may always be seen as a “shock for the sake of shock” kind of movie, I think it’s one of the few examples of true originality and raw expression, where you can actually take away something completely different to someone else from each scene.
