Pride and Prejudice

Besides this adaptation being incredibly faithful to the book, which I can't compliment enough, and great in its anxiety-inducing sequences, I also love the deliberately understated, almost unglamorous look that makes the setting and the actors just realistic enough. The costumes work beautifully, too. A few hours spent in a world crafted with such care and authenticity, one that doesn't need melodramatic aesthetics to elevate itself, whose quiet simplicity is its greatest strength, that will make you forget your own contemporary reality.
