It
there’s definitely a reason for it’s place in pop culture with the impact it created due to the fears it brought from the emptiness and fear of the dark. this film distilled fear in the generations of children with locations such as sewer gutters, shower holes, etc. this film has plenty of problems due to its constant backtracking of the source material and the lack of an adaptation in general. there needs to be a reason for an adaptation and i welcome changes that are brought to the source material, this film/mini series however censors and takes back many of the themes that were in the classic book. i will not ignore the impact it had, but the fear of “taking it too far” really held this film back.
also i wanted to note that i don’t need it to adapt the controversial chapter, there’s a reason why it hasn’t been adapted into film, i’m instead speaking about the nightmare sequences and the cold opening the book had.
