Interstellar

As a big 2001:A Space Odyssey fan, I have to say that Interstellar is THE DEFINITIVE SPACE MOVIE. This movie is the PERFECT EXAMPLE of how CGI should be used in my opinion, with an amazing blend of practical effects and high quality CGI work, providing absolutely breathtaking visuals throughout the film. If more movies were approached the way that this one was regarding visuals, the widespread discontent and mixed emotions regarding CGI would be MUCH more positive. To top it all off, the storyline was so incredible, emotional, complex, and completely unpredictable in the best fashion. One of the greatest movies I have had the pleasure of watching. A legendary piece of cinema history.
