56 Days
‘56 Days' was my most anticipated show of 2026; the trailer and casting had me in an absolute chokehold. However, maybe my expectations were a bit high because of that.
What I liked:
1. Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia are absolutely brilliant, and their acting was very convincing.
2. The suspense and curiosity keep you hooked throughout the show, making it binge-worthy.
3. The soundtrack is fantastic, and Dove’s cover of 'Do I Wanna Know?' has been on repeat since it dropped, an absolute banger.
4. I really appreciated the ending; it was a great conclusion to the series.
5. I loved the exploration of all the psychological layers of the characters and how their pasts have shaped their present.
6. Avan Jogia’s smile and his ass.
What I didn’t like:
1. The sexual scenes are well executed, but the eroticism and chemistry fizzle out between moments, losing their spark. Sex scenes are just there and don’t add much to the characters' depth or reveal anything about them.
2. The plot was quite uneven at times. I liked how it kept switching between two timelines, but sometimes it did bore me. Also detectives were useless, like why was the investigation so slow?
3. I honestly disliked the casting of the younger versions of the characters; they looked entirely different.
4. It definitely is very slow-burning and repetitive, so if you’re looking for a high-octane adrenaline rush show it might disappoint you a little though not entirely as it has its own charged moments.
