ignoring the disgusting behind the scenes of this film I think this is genuinely brilliant.
an example of a story about love not being a love story. It’s balanced the line of romanticising it slightly to represent his twisted perspective but also demonstrating the disturbing and heartbreaking nature of the situation. It explores so many themes in a unique way.
one of my favourite parts of film in general is getting to almost live in another brain and grasp one’s interpretation of life. This film showed me the mind of damaged sociopath mistaking abuse and taking control of someone as love. It performs as a study on neglect and psychological instability while also containing a certain aesthetic.
some really intriguing scenes especially the tap dance one at the bowling alley
I love Christina ricci so so much!!
