What the fuck is going on why is Akira so fucking good? I haven’t seen this gem in about 5 years so I’m putting it down as my first watch and thankfully I was lucky enough to watch it on the big screen and I had the whole cinema to myself fucking brilliant. The animation in this film is absolutely gorgeous and considering this is 1989, I think it’s an understatement to call this the best 2d hand drawn animated movie ever. Disney can fuck off because Akira is where the heat is at. The plot is absolutely mad and it’s full of the Japanese weird sci fi genre that makes up the charm that really creates all the mood and atmosphere for films like this. The action sequences are tremendous I mean I can’t glaze this film enough, not only would I say its most likely top 3 animated movie ever but it’s just downright an amazing film full stop. Fucking brilliant.
