i’ve NEVER seen someone tell a story so perfectly with only their eyes and facial expressions until i saw meiko kaji’s acting. her excellence in portraying matsu cannot be understated much like the first entry, its once again able to display such extreme and uncomfortable situations without feeling overly edgy or unnecessary. it’s very genuine and careful in handling its intense subject matters. also similarly to the first one, the use of color in the cinematography was excellent. sooo many shots were just gorgeous, probably even more so than *#701: Scorpion* almost a perfect movie

entertaining for sure. TS definitely shouldn’t have been the main "hero" though. he spent the movie moping and still got what he wanted in the end despite learning nothing from his mistakes. brodi, on the other hand, was a great character– he was funny AND he actually learned something. the game show segment was hilarious too also, even though it was a good movie, i've never noticed a movie so obviously fail the bechdel test so hard lol

#1: never trust a rich man’s version of an "ideal world" (especially if he owns an island) #2: cool stuff, and it’s especially cool considering this came out in the 60s. it was certainly ahead of its time. not perfect, but it was eccentric and visually interesting enough to keep me hooked throughout most of the runtime

new obsession unlocked ig… whoops!
