Midsommar
Today, I found out that I hate horror movies. But tgat does not nake this movie any less incredible. The way everything slowly unfolds and then wildly spirals, the build up, the jump, the fall, the hit, the rawness of Dani throughout the whole movie. I love how the cult brings a profound sense of community, how they cry with Dani while they moan with the redhead and the parallels and horrors and urgh I was on the edge of my seat. This movie made me feel something, which, I guess, makes it great. When the ritual is ending and the fire is being prepared, I thought the positioning of the corpses was so beautiful. So horrifying and so beautiful. Christian doesn't even blink, but you can feel his fear. It almost seems unreal until the man screams, then it hits, this is real, this is happening, this is terrifying. Dani smiles, and I wonder what she felt. It didn't seem psychotic, it was almost peaceful. She is part of this tightly weaved community and the man who betrayed her is gone. It feels great because she is yet to process the heavy reality. Maybe?
