Blade Runner 2049
Been wanting to watch this film for a long time now but couldn’t get over the runtime hurdle but I’m glad I did. Ryan gosling plays as Officer K, a new model of replicant designed to be more obedient and immune to rebelling than the ones introduced in the original. He’s introduced as an experienced Blade Runner focused solely on the task at hand and yet even from the first scene you can tell there’s a sadness beneath his cold demeanour and from there we follow his journey. I loved his performance in this film he's able portrays his loneliness and sorrow just through his face which i found amazing. I’ve seen a lot of complaints calling his performance flat compared to Harrison ford as Deckard from the original saying he portrayed the role of a blade runner better but I feel like that’s the whole point. Deckard is a human while K is a replicant, essentially a machine designed to do a task so it makes sense why he’d come across as dull compared to Deckard and personally it makes me enjoy his performance even more. The best part of the film for me is the world design I love the cyberpunk feel and while what we saw was amazing I wish we got to see more of it. It’s such a beautiful universe but I just felt it wasn’t explored to its full potential, I’d have loved if they done something like GITS where it has that 5 minutes in the middle exploring the world, showing the people and different places. The original I think did a better job at this However aside from that and Luv the film is fantastic and I’m glad I finally watched it.
Can’t wait for the imax rerelease.
