This was actually my first time seeing any Dracula adaptation, so I went in completely fresh. The story felt super faithful, pretty much a straight retelling without any big changes. That’s not a bad thing at all tho. I enjoyed it overall but the pacing felt abit slow for me. Everyone gave solid performances and I appreciated the effort, yet the casting just didn’t fully click with the characters. It felt like these roles were meant for different people. Still the whole cast did a really good job. Oh and I have to give a round of applause to the cinematography. They really did their big thing turning a very boring color palette into masterful art.

Honestly, the whole thing just kind of sits there. No real story, just this woman getting more and more miserable and losing it, talking to herself half the time. But damn, Cate Blanchett is unreal in it. People weren’t kidding when they said this is her best work. She completely nails this broken, desperate character. Every scene she’s in feels raw. And that bit where she starts venting to those kids at the restaurant? Hella funny in the most uncomfortable way. Basically just watch it for her!

Another film where the hype is over the top yet it's a total snooze fest. I was yawning the whole time, just begging it to end. Not terrible, but nowhere near worth the excitement. Btw who came up with the backrooms idea in the first place?

I would've never thought I would sympathize with a lesbian killer murdering rapists but here we are! Ugh her story is so sad. Not justifying murder but she deserved better. And can we talk about THE MOTHERFUCKING CHARLIZE MOTHERFUCKING THERON. She wasn't acting throughout the movie, she BECAME Aileen. What a fucking performance by her. She deserved that goddamn Oscar and more.
