The Shining

holy fuck there is so much to say of what I enjoyed, but the film speaks for itself. it's so unapologetically terrifying and the psychological deterioration felt very subtle, for the most part. He climbed his way into insanity. This movie wouldn't be anywhere NEAR as good if it wasn't for the impeccable performances by Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duvall, not to disregard any of the other incredible actors as well, but it takes a lot of skill to really make it as convincing and as horrifying as they were able to make it, and succeed well. I'm not surprised that I liked it so much, Kubrick is such an intricate wizard of an artist who manages to create, and capture these characters in phenomenal levels of cognitive dissociation, and agony, and woe. Full Metal Jacket was so well made too, so it was almost expected that this film was going to be remarkable. Overall, I'm really not sure what else to say, but I can say that it is great ;)
