Creep
Creep works because of how uncomfortable it feels in such a strangely believable way. It is not relying on huge scares or complicated ideas. It is just two people, one camera, and a growing sense that something is deeply wrong.
What makes the movie effective is how awkwardly human it is. Josef is weird in a way that keeps shifting between funny, pathetic, and genuinely unsettling, which makes it hard to predict where the story is going. There were moments where I laughed, then immediately felt uncomfortable for laughing at all.
The found footage style also helps a lot because it makes everything feel more personal and invasive. It feels less like watching a horror movie and more like accidentally witnessing someone slowly realize they are trapped in a bad situation.
At the same time, there were a few moments where it felt repetitive or frustrating, especially with some of the decisions being made. But honestly, that irritation almost adds to the realism because people do ignore red flags more than they think they would.
A simple but deeply uncomfortable film that proves how effective horror can be when it feels this close to real life.
