watching the new *Maternal Instinct *netflix doc inspired me me 🤝 french horror 🤝 cgi baby in utero

bleak week surprise 35mm!! really liked this for a bit and then it got so boring and was just dragging out. the first half felt so tense and had me scared wondering what would happen next, because the feeling of being watched was so strong. but didn’t even feel it was particularly bleak. I think a lot of this was just lost on me as i’m missing a lot of the context for french/algerian history. a lot could’ve been solved if they just started putting a camera at their front door lmfao. let down because I LOVE piano teacher and funny games

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would! While it didn’t seem to be a necessarily unique story, Spielberg did some pretty interesting things with this. Great performances (lookin at u miss Blunt) and some really cool shots - still thinkin about the hail/cereal. I do think some of the writing fell short for me, like any time Danny was hiding from the agents and the whole invisible scene... just not my jam. ending didn’t really get to me a whole lot but maybe that’s the lexapro talking and 0 stars for emily blunt’s botox. those lips queen 😭

this scared the hell out of me!! out of ME!!! I was truly on edge the whole time. they really did tension well wowza only thing I didn’t really like was the science subplot. would’ve been scary to keep that out and leave our impression of Mary as memory mary
