the question that is asked before the plot twist drops is somewhat like “what is aliens purpose of being on earth” for me this is another metaphor for Louis she has to answer her own question what is the purpose of having a child if she will die by understanding much more complex meaning of alien language (their perception of the future that consists the emotions) and their core purpose she also understands her own purpose aliens just showed her the happy moments the sad moments were the ones she was focusing on too much her daughters death was inevitable it was up to her what would their connection serve in her life (would it be regret of knowing what would happen to her daughter if she let herself experience the happiness she always craved for and this is definitely implied earlier in the film the way she’s portrayed blunt and grey and sad or knowing that she wouldn’t experience the peak happiness without the sadness that would have to come along eventually)
Honestly this isn’t well written at all I still have to re arrange stuff in my brain and paint the full picture for me this type of art doesn’t have one singular explanation so my review on top still feels right to me
