Hamnet
What a movie. It’s emotional, dramatic and engaging at the same time. Jaded Buckley delivers the performance of a life time. The only pet peeve I have with it is Paul Mescal and not his acting, because it was incredible, especially in the doc scene, but more with him being kinda too perfect for the age. I felt being taken out of the movie on certain scenes. I think a big factor of that was his earring. Now I don’t know if people wore earrings back then but I would imagine not. That my only negative. The emotional shifts were incredible and I found myself crying multiple times through the movie and I can’t even imagine what parents were feeling during this movie. I liked a lot the fact that they didn’t tell us Shekspere’s name. One person in the cinema even asked who that was. The subtle hint for those who didn’t know who was he were really good. I again go to the doc scene where the reveal for most people happen. The acting was amazing and his suicidal thoughts and the way of showing than was amazing and than the to be or not to be speach was great. Thats probably the second or third best scene in the movie. My favourite was probably the second birth scene. I somehow find myself crying, happy and tense at the same time. Wow and that was really cared by Jessie Buckley who is defenetly deserving of the Oscar’s. Thats one of the best performences of all time for me. The grief portrait was raw, emotional, simphatic and overral amazing. The child actors were also amazing, especially Hamnet. The mystical aspect of the movie was also a really good ad in. And last, but certainly not last-the set and costumes. The constant colour for every character, the costumes rally transported me int the era. The sets also amazing. Also the music was amazing and really made you feel the emotion of the character and amplifies the already amazing acting.
