This might just be the movie that’s been on my watchlist for the longest. One Cut of the Dead is not at all what I was expecting, and if you’re planning on watching this it’s truly better to go in blind. It throws you for quite a loop early in the movie and from then on, it became exactly my kind of thing. The final act/ending are incredibly satisfying, the kind of thing you immediately want to watch again. Despite the lower budget, it’s able to take full advantage of such a well written screenplay and deliver a movie unlike any other.

While Jurassic World Rebirth certainly isn’t reinventing the wheel, it’s a fun blockbuster, with just enough new ideas to keep the franchise feeling fresh. The scenes with the boats, the cliff, and the climax are all edge of your seat exciting. I like the concept of a mutant dinosaur island, taking the idea of cross breeding that’s been done to death in these movies to the horrific extreme, unfortunately it’s a only small part of the movie, only coming into play at the very end. The writing is also good pretty terrible at times, they’re trying their damnedest to make you feel emotional, but it’s just not happening. Scarlet Johansson I’m happy you’re getting that bag, but you’re acting like a cardboard cutout in this movie. Mahershala Ali is doing the best he can, but I actually quite liked Jonathan Bailey, you could tell he was having a lot of fun. Needless to say, I enjoyed myself watching this, and even though there’s a lot of problems with it, I’d still recommend seeing it at the theater. 2025 Films Ranked

Jake Gyllenhaal is my favorite actor and all though this is not my favorite movie of his as I still prefer Prisoners and Donnie Darko overall this has to be my favorite performance by him. Lou Bloom is such a creepy guy acted to perfection by Jake and even though he is aggressive he still seems like a down to Earth guy even when he’s telling the competing news guy that he wants to rip his ears off and shout in his face. It’s so cool to me that he’s playing this character who is so clearly morally in the wrong on most occasions and the film somehow still manages to make us root for him in a weird twisted way. We know he’s a bad guy, but we want to see him succeed. I liked this even more than the first time I saw it and this is now one of my favorite movies.
