Brief Encounter

I really wanted to dislike it, which may seem weird for a film with an average rating of 4.3 but it’s so obviously morally ambiguous and I really wanted to not give a shit about either of them but fuck it. I’ve seen many romance dramas that capture that feeling of longing, this may just be the best portrayal of it, and its competition is absolutely huge. I also should rewatch Carol because maybe watching that in film studies affected my emotional investment and it’s very clearly influenced by this
