The Whispering Star
This is my kind of sci-fi. I love a great number of sci-fi subgenres but this style has a special place in my heart, what I call unconventional sci-fi.
This movie is a black and white slow burn little story about a cyborg delivery woman travelling around the galaxy with her sentient AI companion delivering packages in a rented spaceship equipped with different sorts of analog technological devices.
She has such a small and monotonous life with well-defined little routines, but this gives our cyborg protagonist time to meditate about the human condition.
Here doesn't matter what's being delivered, what matters is the longing for connection, being part of something bigger than us and having to deal with loneliness, which now are even stronger issues than they were in the past, given the fact that humanity is almost extinct.
Just an amazing little existential film, one of those we can find in good sci-fi cinema, and my favorite Sion Sono film so far.
