I haven't watched the LOTR Series since I was a kid, and I recently decided that I'm going to rewatch all 6 movies. As a whole, I do think this series is a little overrated. Don't get me wrong though, these are very good movies, I just don't think any of them deserve the ratings they usually get.The acting can be slightly cheesy and lackluster at times, and I really don't like the constant shot changes throughout this movie, specifically during the chase scenes, it just felt really jarring and hokey. I know it's an older movie, but all three of the Og movies have this problem and it's just annoying for me.I do genuinely enjoy the themes and the plot, and all of the characters, it's just that it's one of those "older" movies that make you think "oh yea this feels like an OLD movie"Overall, I think I need to branch out and get into fantasy more, I do really think it can be fun (also, regardless of the fact this review is mostly criticism, I still really do love this movie)

I wasn't really sure if I was going to like this or not before I watched this, but I always try to keep high hopes. Unfortunately though, this movie isn't really that great. I think the cinematography is cool, and I love the city setting, but the script and acting are just really "meh", It's all way to cliche and corny for my liking. (the cat was the best actor btw)It was fun for what it was, it's just not really a movie I would care to ever rewatch. 2025 Ranking</a

Straight aura farming, honestly not as bad as I thought it'd be... 2025 Ranking

"In moonlight, black boys look blue" It's genuinely mind boggling that Gay-Marriage was only legalized a YEAR before this movie came out. Moonlight is a film about many things, in a way it's a film about love, and what it means to "be yourself", but mostly importantly I think, this is a film about identity and how our identity is put on and shaped by the world around us.I really only want to focus on one aspect of the film though, one that I caught onto Fairly early on. The color "blue" is not only mentioned multiple times throughout the movie (mostly anecdotal), but it also tends to line-up with the events of the film and how the characters feel. For instance, in the scene when Chiron is walking through the school to go to attack Terrell, there is a TON of blue (clothes scenery, lighting), it's reflective of the confidence he had in that scene, he almost embraces the "blue" (one's true self/identity). The color blue also gets reflected upon in the final act, in the diner scene, there is a shocking lack of "blueness" in fact, I'd say it's visually the dullest scene in the film. It's not until the two go back to Kevin's apartment when that blue gets reintroduced, until the moment Kevin changes from the chef's outfit to the bright blue shirt, that their "true colors" show. This is a truly incredible coming of age movie, it is not only visually, but thematically beautiful. The only real reason this isn't a 5 star for me is because of the fact I straight up cannot connect with the film on its deepest level. I'm a white, straight kid from Michigan lmfao. (that's not to say I didn't connect with this movie at all though, because I very much did) Top 50
