John Wick: Chapter 4
You don't need eyes to see the right path - Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada)I always love thinking about how John Wick movies started in a simple way ... and then grew up to a more complex and international scenario.
This 4th movie takes everything that's good about the previous ones:
- Magnificent fight choreography, where you can't even blink for a second
- Empathetic and Profound Characters, each with their own mission and "reasons to kill"
- Experimental and Successful scene compositions
- Awesome Techno/Dark Synth Soundtracks that seem coming out of Cyberpunk 2077 or Ghostrunner
We've already known John Wick's vengeance story,
that's why in this movie the real gem is the moltitude of support roles, old friends and new antagonists that turn the story upside down each time they appear:
my blind homie Caine, the double agent "Nobody" with his dog, Bill Skarsgard's slimy "Marquis De Gramont" and most of all ... the Kintaro level Sub boss "Chidi" (that gets what he deserves for tryng to kill a dog)
Consequences. The first arc at Osaka reminded me of the 3rd movie. Some nice bow and katana fights, followed by the duel between Caine and Koji.
The Berlin gambling fight showed us a glimpse of the power of friendship the 3 killers will fully develop at Paris, in the mythic Sainte-Croix-stairs scene (where John falls for 20 minutes)
But that's not enough to make it the most hilarious part of the movie, as the Arc de Triomphe Roundabout scene exists, where everyone seems to have Car Resistance + 1000 or Killer Bean ragdoll death effect
That's life.
