RoboCop 2
Patience, Lewis. We're only human.
This sequel took the concept of the first movie and expanded it to the roots of human nature ... of Robocop's Nature.
They focused on the duality of the main character, the humanity of Alex Murphy and the mind-washing OCP program of Robocop.
They even surpassed the first movie increasing the strange and horrible feeling of what means being trapped in a mechanic body that's not yours, ruled by hundreds of Directives that destroy that small portion of yourself left.
While Murphy clearly experienced this scary reboot of himself, the peak of horror in this film is Caine's fate: from a drug addict to a monster with no human feature except for his nervous system (and the concept of him watching his body abandon him while sunk in a tank is disturbing).
They really knew how to make good sequels, back in those years (Terminator 2 is another example)
