Anora and materiality Anora lives life through the prism of materiality. This drives her decisions, when money is always in her mind and especially when she get gifted something real like a ring, no matter who it is coming from. After all, she objectify herself through her job, this is even more understandable. Anora’s views conflict Though we see clearly that deep down, her true intentions are spiritual. I believe she really was in love. The issue is that she faces a real conflict when she realise that good marerial intention doesn’t mean good spiritual intention, and vice versa in the end.  Igor, her mate The figure of Igor is deeply kind but rough and represents the opposite of Ivan who clearly soft in his attitude but properly selfish and egoist. Igor is not rich, he is poetic and simple, he is grounded, and this lack of shininess is repulsing Anora. While he is a lot closer to Anora than she thinks, after all she is the one with a butterfly tattoo not a dollar sign.
