Joker
I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did, it was so good. I watched like the last 20 mins today (13/1) and wasn’t sure what to expect but I really liked the ending and its ambiguity.
Todd Phillip is a definitely a bit questionable, (I learned about his debut today and my jaw dropped) which kind of makes sense as to why the film is so eccentric. I like that it pays homage to the New Hollywood era, with use of the old WB logo and the aesthetic of the film. The music and score is great, although not sure whether I think it’s Oscar worthy? Joaquin Phoenix’s performance was amazing though. Using Gary Glitter for the stairs scene is a bold and rather unsettling choice, which is exactly what the film is. I kinda want to watch the 2nd but apparently it doesn’t hold up as well…
