I feel like people saying this is a "good for her" movie are completely missing the point. Dani is a marginalised and vulnerable person who is groomed by Pelle and the cult into becoming one of them, essentially filling the hole that her oppression and trauma has created in her with this new form of oppression within this ecofascist, patriarchal pagan cult. I think I realised this when I first watched the movie. I was 14 and really high, and the orgy scene freaked me out at a friend's house, when we were watching it two people were making out on the couch next to me, and that's what I remember most vividly whenever I put on this movie. When discussing this film, it's also important to note that I got a buddy who's Swedish. He's gotten the nickname "hard mode life guy" because he is a Gay Jewish native American autistic asthmatic. I imagine this is the sort of shit he has to deal with on the regular in his hard, hard Swedish life. So just remember that next time you are going through a bad day in Sweden
