It would have been a great "so bad it's good" type of film if it had gone full Camp with a capital C,instead the director chose this semi-serious approach that I personally don't really understand. It has pacing problems and I can't figure out what the main target was. My girl Octavia Spencer though, she acted the hell out of her role(arguably the only good performance in the whole film),but I must admit that I had fun (The soundtrack wins my personal award for the randomest soundtrack ever).

Honestly, this afternoon was the second time I watched this film since I was 12 and my only question is:What could I had possibly understood about it when I was that young? It is just perfect: The acting, the cinematography, the writing and the soundtrack(Whenever a song by Nico started I just wanted to cry).

Ogni volta che guardo una serie di Zerocalcate ne esco emotivamente devastato,e va bene così.

9/10 Is this film great?:Sure Should it have won the golden lion in Venice over "The Voice of Hind Rajab"?:Probably not, just because of the urgency the other film had and its overall political importance. With all that being said, this particular event doesn't effect a bit the overall quality of this masterful picture. Jim Jarmusch is a great director and I have got to love the fact that one beautiful low-budget project like this has gotten a huge recognition. The performances are great and the whole thing perfectly embodies the emotional weight that these families carry. As we could already notice in "Coffe and Cigarettes",Jarmusch completely nails anthology films which can be a quite challenging way of conveying a story. It is really worth a watch.
