loved this one. felt like the most natural stepping stone between lola and umbrellas, takes the somber and realistic style of the former and imbues the dizzying whimsy of the latter to make a character piece that really swept me away; you feel every little win and loss these people face. simultaneously works as a cautionary tale while also making gambling seem pretty damn exciting! i’m now more than ever convinced jacques demy was a wizard.
