it’s like the least funny comedy movie ever. rob schneider other than being a piece of shit can’t act and in an era of movies that i enjoy the crude and sometimes ridiculous humour it misses on every front

the second hand embarrassment that i felt throughout the entire run time of this movie had me covering my eyes like some child watching their first horror film

i feel like what this movie lacks in a lot of subtlety a nuance it attempts to make up for with just not over the top but really in your face, confrontational dialogue. this does a good job of showing exactly the effects of sexual violence on people and does not pull any punches in the severity of it. my one major gripe with this movie is actually the ending. we see throughout how these people continue to get away with their actions and cassie comes along and is the one person who is holding them accountable. but her dying also kind of shows that without a systemic change that any singular person cannot have the wild scale impact that is needed. but then having her get them all posthumously while satisfying does take away from the overall messaging of the film. carey mulligan was absolutely phenomenal in this you can feel the anger she has towards all these characters even in moments where she’s taking control of the situation. whilst she’s blackmailing and mentally abusing these people on the surface she is really a beacon of hope that actions do have consequences. that opening scene was just incredible i mean it shows just how easily it can happen and how many people who think they aren’t bad guys will still do that to someone. the ending did unfortunately kind of detract from the themes of the film and was a bit too safe not giving us a full cassie rampage or a harrowing view on the systemic issues in place. that being said the more films like this that can approach these subjects without making them feel taboo continues to spark the conversation for how real long term changes can be made

sometimes all you need is a little fix of 2000s and 2010s slightly cringy and at times tough to watch rom coms in your life
