Favorite movie of 2026 so far 👎

I can’t even hate this movie was peak (soda pop will be stuck in my head for the next 3 days 💀)

I can’t believe I’m logging this movie in my letterbox (thanks Keilah) but here we are…. The basic, barebones plot had enough potential to be really great. If it had a bigger budget and maybe another draft or two for the story this could’ve been a very good film that gets talked about for the rest of the year… buuuutt it’s not.  The movie touched on some interesting themes like how people process grief differently coupled with a mother attempting to reconnect with her child. But instead this Hallmarky love story takes place between her and HER DEAD BOYFRIEND’S BEST FRIEND (which breaks all types of guy code) completely overshadows some of these more interesting themes (And pretty good acting performances!). Between the film telling me the plot instead of showing me, it’s predictability, and the dialogue (“you taste like apples” was a real line that was said after a kiss I’m not joking), this falls into the category of another forgettable romance film we’ll see on a streaming service soon.

Watched this with my girlfriend for Valentines Day and went in with absolutely low expectations which it met somewhat. It was a fun, lighthearted, cliche rom com with a sprinkle of faith added on top that managed to get a few chuckles out of me.  I’m not trying to bash this film but MAN did it feel like a Mike Todd/ Transformation Church ad during half of the movie 💀 Also this movie used way too many needle drops to fill spaces where the narrative was lacking.
