rewatch because its free on youtube right now. conceptually, a great movie. i love a superpowered character who only has powers based in real life circumstances that are exaggerated slightly. metal bones and no pain receptors from having surgery? sure ok ill believe it. this is fun i am having fun. + hero design for kickass is cute, i like how his face looks like a pair of boxer shorts. where i start disliking the movie is when it comes to the humor. kickass understands itself to be an exaggerated movie with a concept parodying the intensity of superhero comics, but they cant make me laugh to save its life. i think the one time i felt really at the edge of my seat was nicolas cage (coppola) shooting his own daughter. that got a breathy chuckle out of me from pure relief tho so idk if it counts. everything else reads as corny and not really fully committed to its own ridiculousness. **also i didnt like hit girl blowing a kiss at kickass that one time and saying daddy a lot it made me really uncomfortable. **i only really see it in bad faith because i know ts is written by a strange man in the early 2000s and they let those guys do whatever tf they want

ok admittedly when this came out i loved it but rewatching it i do truly feel like they were trying to be a vibe like SO BAD like kid cudi put everything he thought was cool in a stirring pot and made characters that dont at all feel like real people. like thats how i made ocs when i was fifteen. **this is chillguy and he smokes weed. chillgirl, his girlfriend also smokes weed. they smoke weed so much they have to light up in the middle of brushing their teeth. also he loves KAWS and lives in an industrial loft in brooklyn. is this a vibe yet. ** mr rager is cool though i love him and everything surrounding his storyline. animation is still good and the movie is overall charming and fun to watch. but this is like watching a sam levinson project. **like its so aesthetic its like seeing an overbred pug. just struggling to breathe despite how cute he is and you start to wonder if its even alive while youre looking at it.** ** ** **at the end of the day, though, this movie is tied to a music project, so idk if me holding it to the same standard as regular film is rlly fair**

watched with a friend who never watched ntbts and we both loved it. a genderless movie experience
