Rodrick was hooooooning on that vape

Enjoyed it quite a bit, the atmosphere was built so well for the contents of the film with the director knowing the exact details of imperfections and familiarity to add to the spaces. I like the idea of the backrooms being real places but remembered in not the same way as it really is, like the dog analogy they say throughout. I think the themes of the backrooms like being lost and the nostalgic nature of it bleeds through the characters psyche as-well. Clark being lost in life, with his dreams of being an architect diminished by life. And his failed relationship with his wife. It’s both the long for nostalgia and being lost which is why I understand him wanting to recreate that in the backrooms. With Mary I think she has some regret with not being able to help her mother, thus becoming a therapist. I also believe that’s why she even came back to help Clark, it was framed as curiosity which Ofcourse there is some in there but deep down she really just wanted to help clark, any sane person wouldn’t go that deep. I like the symbolism of her hitting the pirate Clark with the hand print her and her mother did, maybe it was a character arc of her not putting other people’s problems in-front of her own, which is definitely a way she copes with losing her mother to psychosis or whatever. Anyway Mabye I read to deep into it. Was good time, I wasn’t crazy into backrooms lore before this so was really going in with a slightly blind eye and saw it more as a movie than something with a lot of lore.
